The Passenger

Project for DESERT X, Curated by Cesar García and Neville Wakefield. Coachella Valley, USA. 2021.

The Passenger is an installation by Eduardo Sarabia presented at Desert X 2021. Built with petate walls in the form of a labyrinth, the project reflects on human journeys and the memories they create. The work draws from Sarabia’s own experiences as the son of migrants and his interest in the cultural crossings between Mexico and the United States. The pathway offers visitors a journey that symbolizes both personal and collective displacements connecting traditional craftsmanship with the uncertainties and hopes that accompany those who move across territories in search of a different future.
