Taquería La Estrella
CDMX, 2025.
Eduardo Sarabia brings his visual language into dialogue with Northern Mexican cuisine for Taquería La Estrella in Mexico City. Located in Colonia Juárez, the space is conceived as a tribute to the culinary traditions of northern Mexico.
Inspired by the personal history of Durango-born chef and restaurateur Tomás Bermúdez, La Estrella channels a sense of place through regional recipes, time-honored techniques, and carefully sourced ingredients. The project unfolds as both a gastronomic and cultural experience, grounded in memory and craft.
The interior draws from the aesthetic of a traditional butcher shop, with white-tiled walls serving as the canvas for Sarabia’s hand-painted murals. Across these surfaces, motifs tied to luck and destiny intertwine with figures drawn from corridos and borderland narratives—recurring characters within the artist’s practice—embedding the space with layered storytelling.
In La Estrella, Sarabia’s intervention transforms the space into an immersive setting where art and cuisine converge, offering a contemporary homage to Northern Mexico’s identity and traditions.
