SUENXS
December 2024 - April 2025, Careyes Foundation , Jalisco, México.
“At the beginning, dreams were linked to the gift of prophecy. They were divine omens, or messages in any case. Connected to stellar images and lingering reminiscences, to the traces deciphered in sand, to the flights of migratory birds, to the path of light, to the entrails of sacrificed animals, the dream was the matrix of the god or of nature. It had to be drawn out through words, listened to, shared, so it could be interpreted and the dreamer released from the burden it represented. In a sense, the dream touches the threshold of action… Like trauma, the dream shapes a figure in the place of the unrepresentable; it creates a script that fuses with truth. It lifts the secret.”¹
To dream is to access another dimension; to move from the second, like in drawing, to the third, like in sculpture; to another one that—whether recognizable or not—opens like a portal to memory, to what was real in our bodily world and to what we made real through imagination. In SUEÑXS, Eduardo Sarabia’s final exhibition of 2024, the magical, the dreamlike, and memory are honored as portals into intimate, internal worlds that speak more about who we are than reason ever could.
